My name is Maria Dalzot and I am a Registered Dietitian, nutrition therapist and professional trail and mountain runner living in Bellingham, Washington.

When most people think of a registered dietitian, they think meal plans, food rules and diets. My approach is different. I am a non-diet dietitian with a Health at Every Size approach and have training in trauma-informed care and Polyvagal Theory. I set clients up on a lifelong journey of physical and mental health. I work with individuals who feel anxiety and guilt around food, who have a history of dieting and no longer trust themselves to nourish their body properly, who have disordered eating behaviors or who are in eating disorder recovery. My sessions focus heavily on intuitive eating strategies, behavior goals, shifts in mindset, and support. I use tools and techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which beautifully complements the Intuitive Eating principles. We bring attention to your thoughts and beliefs about food and how your body works because only you can be the expert of your body. I want to help you eat in a way that is in alignment with your unique body and valued living. I am here to guide, inspire and facilitate change.

When we widen our perspective and redefine what food and health mean to us, we have a healthier, more positive, and celebrated relationship with food.

Maria Dalzot

I completed my undergraduate degree in Nutrition at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. During those four years, I developed a strong relationship with my instructors who helped me go on to earn my Master's degree in Human Nutrition and Food Science while concurrently working through my Dietetic Internship. After I successfully passed the Dietetic registration exam in 2012, I moved with my now husband to the Pacific Northwest.

While in Bellingham, I have worked at employee work sites, community and college classrooms and in clinical environments to make nutrition education accessible for people of all shapes sizes, genders, cultures, ethnicity and economical status. I now have a virtual private practice so I can reach you no matter what time zone you reside.

Running is a big part of my life, but I am NOT a sports dietitian. It doesn’t matter how healthy you perceive you eat, if you have a tumultuous relationship with food and your body, your mental and physical health will suffer. We were all born with the ability to listen to and trust our bodies. If you can’t, it’s not a character flaw or that you’re broken, it’s just that something happened to you along the way to rupture that relationship and it can be repaired.
